Sylvester Stallone Makes a Permanent Move from California to the ‘Free State of Florida,’ Embraced by Casey DeSantis

In a surprising turn of events, Sylvester Stallone has declared that he is “permanently” bidding farewell to the sunny shores of California, opting instead for the welcoming embrace of the “Free State of Florida.” This revelation came during the season two premiere of the reality show, “The Family Stallone.”

The iconic “Rocky” star, addressing his three daughters – Scarlet, 21, Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27 – along with his wife of 26 years, Jennifer Flavin, revealed their decision. Stallone confidently stated, “After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida. We’re gonna sell this house. We already have the place, it’s a done deal.”

The Stallone family’s impending move was met with a warm greeting from Casey DeSantis, wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. She took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, exclaiming, “Welcome to the Free State of Florida!” alongside a clip of Stallone’s announcement. Adding a touch of humor, she remarked, “In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you.”

This shift to Florida is not a spontaneous decision; in 2021, Stallone invested in a magnificent $35.4 million estate in Palm Beach, as reported by the Palm Beach Daily News. The property boasts over 13,000 square feet of living space, encompassing a main house, a guest house, and a pool pavilion overlooking the keyhole-shaped pool in the backyard. With seven bedrooms and 12 baths, it stands on approximately 1.5 lakefront acres, providing a scenic view of the beach and a private dock, as per The New York Post.

For the past three years, Stallone and Flavin have divided their time between California and Florida. Speaking at the inaugural “Rocky Day” celebration in December, Flavin expressed her contentment with the move, stating, “It’s an incredible move, I have to say I’m really happy with our move and our change.” She emphasized the positive aspects of the transition, mentioning that their daughters had moved to the East Coast, making California less central to their lives.

The decision to relocate was further explored in Stallone’s Netflix documentary, “Sly.” He explained that the move wasn’t just about seeking a new picturesque view. Instead, it was a deliberate effort to jump-start his creativity by altering the familiar surroundings he had grown accustomed to.

Flavin clarified that the move was primarily about embracing change rather than concerns over crime rates, a sentiment echoed by some celebrities. “There’s crime everywhere, there’s crime in Florida, too, so I didn’t move because of crime. You can find it anywhere you look, even in small towns,” she remarked. “I think California is probably the most beautiful state in the United States, I absolutely love it, but I just needed a change. I felt like I’ve been there long enough, and life is short, so I wanted to make a change and not just be sitting in one house the rest of my life.”
