Wendy Williams Opens Up About Drinking Habits in New Documentary

In a revealing moment from her latest documentary, Wendy Williams, the former talk show host, admitted to a shocking habit of finishing an entire bottle of vodka while lounging in bed throughout the day. The explosive scene unfolds as her manager, Will Selby, discovers an empty vodka bottle in her room, prompting a candid confrontation, as per New York Post.

“So, did you eat something, or did you have a liquid lunch?” Selby queries, observing Williams in a pink bathrobe on her cheetah-print bed. “Because I came into your room, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I happen to notice one of your specialty items.”

The 59-year-old Williams initially confesses to consuming the entire bottle that day, only to backtrack with a quick “no” response. The exchange becomes tense as Selby expresses concern, attempting to keep the situation under control. Williams, defiantly, insists, “I’m not drunk,” to which Selby emphasizes that his worry is not about drunkenness but the potential repercussions of excessive drinking.

“I never said you was drunk, but I just don’t know if this is a good idea,” Selby cautions. Undeterred, Williams asserts her belief in being perfectly fine with her alcohol consumption, adding a blunt “f–k you!” to the mix.

Selby, attempting to defuse the situation, suggests moving the empty bottle downstairs, a proposition that Williams vehemently opposes. Amid the heated exchange, Selby, in an on-camera interview, admits to being uncertain about the extent of Williams’ alcohol intake but discloses that he disposed of the liquor, recognizing the challenge in curbing her habits.

“I never feel powerless, but I do feel like I just need help because I can’t do this alone,” Selby confesses. He acknowledges the complexity of tackling alcoholism solo and expresses a need for external support.

Williams, when directly asked if she plans to quit drinking, responds with a straightforward “No,” justifying her stance by pointing out that Selby also drinks, asserting, “We all drink — why can’t I?”

This shocking revelation comes on the heels of Williams disclosing her diagnosis of primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. The new documentary lays bare the challenges she faces, shedding light on her struggles with language and communication, common symptoms of aphasia, and the impact of frontotemporal dementia on behavior and cognitive functions.

In 2023, after a series of medical tests, Williams received an official diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, conditions that have presented significant hurdles in her life. Notably, aphasia involves difficulties in language processing, while FTD, a progressive disorder, affects behavior and cognitive functions.

This revelation resonates with the ongoing struggle of actor Bruce Willis, who also battles aphasia and FTD. Williams, in response to the public’s reaction to her health disclosure, expressed immense gratitude, acknowledging the power of unity and the importance of compassion. She hopes that her story will benefit others dealing with FTD and extends thanks to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration for their support.

As the curtain falls on this chapter of her life, Williams emphasizes her need for personal space and peace to thrive, concluding with heartfelt appreciation for the positive messages and encouragement she has received from her fans.
